Reimagining migration: What does the future hold for Australia?

Hosted by: School of Social Sciences and Monash Migration and Inclusion Centre.

This event will be live recorded for ABC RN Big Ideas.

This conversation will explore issues that are too often treated in isolation: critiques of border regulation, how to manage labour and migration, analyses of criminal justice data related to: ‘migrant crime’ and the experience of international students.

This panel will frame the discussion around reimagining migration. Moderated by Peter Meres (Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership), the panel will consist of:

  • Prof Alex Piquero (University of Texas at Dallas/Monash University)
  • A/Prof Ly Tran (Deakin University)
  • A/Prof Joanna Howes (Adelaide University)
  • A/Prof Leanne Weber (Monash University)

The panel will consider migration to and within Australia into the future, encouraging a new direction in a national conversation on issues of community interest and concern.
