ANNE CASTLES is Professor of Cognitive Science at Macquarie University and Scientific Director of the Macquarie University Centre for Reading. Her research is in the cognitive science of reading and language, with a particular focus on reading development and developmental dyslexia. She explores basic processes in reading, and examines the ways in which their failure to develop normally can produce different types of reading impairment. She is also interested in linguistic, perceptual and genetic underpinnings of different kinds of reading difficulty.
