Academy Fellow

Professor Jane Kenway is an Emeritus Professor at Monash University and a Professorial Fellow at the Melbourne Graduate School of Edication at Melbourne University. Her research examines the intersections between education and social change. Within this broad frame she focuses on knowledge, culture, identity and inequality. Her major works:

• examine the globalisation of the research imagination
• offer a socio-cultural analysis of knowledge economy discourses
• explore the links between mobility, locality, masculinity and education; and
• examine the implications of consumer-media culture for children's education.

She currently leads an international team conducting the five year research project called Elite independent schools in globalising circumstances: a multi-sited global ethnography.

She is also writing a monograph on moving ideas and mobile intellectuals in the social sciences and humanities.
