Professor J G (Iain) Wallace is the former Vice-Chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne. Professor Wallace specialises in self-modifying systems viewed from a cognitive and brain science perspective. Prior to his retirement he was engaged in simulation of the interaction of neurons and astrocytes in learning. Other areas of interest include:

• hybrid systems
• recurrent neural networks
• evolutionary computation.
