Peter Aggleton is an active researcher and writer with a background in sociology, policy studies, education and health. An Emeritus UNSW Scientia Professor and a Distinguished Honorary Professor at ANU, he is well known for his analytic work on health education and health promotion, the social aspects of HIV, sexuality and gender, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
He is the editor-in-chief of several international peer reviewed journals: Culture, Health & Sexuality (which he founded), Health Education Journal and Sex Education, and an associate editor of the journals AIDS Education & Prevention, Global Public Health and Health Education Research.
Peter has worked closely with national, international and UN system agencies for over 40 years to strengthen international and national responses to sexuality education, HIV and sexual health. His work extends understanding and appreciation of the ways in which HIV and sexuality sit within the broader field of politics, national and international development, education and sexual health.
He is one of the most published writers in his field with an h-index of 75 and an i-10 index of 330 (GS)
