Profile
Peter Read is Adjunct Professor at the Australian Centre for Indigenous History, within the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences. Previously, he was a Professorial Research Fellow in the Department of History at the University of Sydney. He began his career in Australian Indigenous History, while taking a special interest in oral testimony. After working for some years with Aboriginal adults separated from their families, his interests have widened to include the history and meaning of Australians' attachments to sites and land.
He has additional interests and publications in museum studies, oral history, biography, and the history of Latin America, especially Cuba and Chile.
