Professor Sidney Gray is Professor of International Business at the Business School, University of Sydney. He was formerly Head of the School of Business and was founder of the School’s International Business department. He is also a founder and Co-Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research Group. He has a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from the University of Sydney and a PhD from Lancaster University, England. He was recently awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan for his contributions to the advancement of culture. His research interests include internationalization and entrepreneurship processes, the effectiveness of cross-cultural and expatriate management, the global convergence of accounting standards, and international corporate governance and transparency. He is the author/co-author of more than 200 publications including many papers in leading international journals such as Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, Management International Review, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Human Relations, Abacus, Journal of Accounting Research and International Journal of Accounting. He is a founder and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Financial Management & Accounting based at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Sid was formerly a Professor at the Universities of Glasgow and Warwick in the U.K, and UNSW in Australia. He has also been a visiting professor at many universities around the world including the University of Amsterdam, Stockholm School of Economics, National University of Singapore, University of Malaya, University of Hong Kong, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Kwansei Gakuin University, Waseda University, Kyoto University and the University of Hawaii. Prior to academe, Sid’s business experience included several years as a manager with a Scottish trading company in the UK and India. His many professional involvements include serving as a member of the National Advisory Council of the Export Council of Australia. More recently he was a member of the ARC's Economics and Commerce Research Evaluation Committee for the 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment. He is also a former President of the International Association for Accounting Education and Research and a founder and former President of the Australia and New Zealand International Business Academy. Sid’s research contributions have been recognised by his elections as a Fellow of the Academy of International Business and as a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.
