The Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Workshops Program grants.
Over $70,000 has been allocated to eight teams of researchers to host multidisciplinary workshops to develop innovative approaches, foster network connections and tackle critical issues in national research and policy.
The funded workshops will bring experts together to address a range of pressing topics, including:
- Social responsibility and artificial intelligence: Ms Joann Cattlin, Professor Lisa Given, Dr Alexandra Ridgway and Professor Falk Scholer (RMIT University)
- Climate adaptation: Professor Philippa Collins (Western Sydney University), Professor Daniel Noble, Associate Professor Alison Bentley and Professor Xuemei Bai (Australian National University)
- Suicide and family violence: Professor Heather Douglas (University of Melbourne), Professor Kyllie Cripps, Professor Kate Fitz-Gibbon and Dr Stefani Vasil (Australian Catholic University)
- Planetary health equity action: Professor Sharon Friel & Associate Professor Christian Downie (Australian National University)
- Asia’s security futures: Professor Evelyn Goh, Professor Iain Henry and Dr Wai Yeap (Nicholas) Chan (Australian National University)
- Cancer and public health: Professor Andrew May (University of Melbourne) and Dr Thomas Kehoe (Cancer Council Victoria)
- Indigenous data governance: Associate Professor Jacob Prehn and Professor Maggie Walter (University of Tasmania), Professor Ray Lovett (Australian National University) and Professor Gawaian Bodkin-Andrews (Western Sydney University)
- Housing reform and supply: Professor Kristian Ruming and Dr Alistair Sisson (Macquarie University) and Professor Bill Randolph and Dr Ryan van den Nouwelant (University of New South Wales).
