Australia’s Future in Space and Space Industry: An Emerging Agenda for the Social Sciences
TBC 2020
Conveners: Professor Roy MacLeod, Ms Jiye Kim, Dr Susan Pond
“In framing this era of discovery, the social sciences have a bold role to play.”
Possibly among the first of its kind, this workshop will examine the opportunities and challenges awaiting Australia in relation to new developments in Space, and factors that may come to govern the advent and development of a Space Industry in Australia. Over two days, academics and practitioners will discuss the prospects awaiting innovation, production, education, and employment in a range of Space-related activities. Participants will also explore the possible parameters of an emerging, transnational, transdisciplinary field of research, yet to be defined, but potentially rich in the application of a range of applied social sciences.
