Professor Heather Goodall is Professor Emerita of History in the School of Communications at UTS. Professor Goodall specialises in Australian Aboriginal history, in environmental history and in intercolonial studies, in particular on the links between Australia, South Asia and the eastern Indian Ocean. She has been awarded a number of ARC Discovery grants, including an investigation of the role of cultural diversity in shaping responses to water and environmental change, which has resulted in a number of publications, including Rivers and Resilience (2009). In another, ARC funded project with Devleena Ghosh, she is investigating the links between Australian and Indian women during the Cold War and is exploring relations between India, Indonesia and Australia during decolonisation in the mid twentieth century. To date this has resulted in two monographs, Beyond Borders (2018) and Teacher for Justice (2019) with two others in drafting. In a Linkage project with Tranby Indigenous Adult Education College, Heather has recorded the experiences of former students who were enrolled in Tranby courses and workshops from 1980 to 2010 and a website, Around the Meeting Tree, showcasing Tranby projects is currently under construction.
