Professor MELANIE NOLAN is the Director of the National Centre of Biography and the General Editor of the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Australian National University. She chairs the Editorial Committee of ANU Press’ series in biography, ANU.Lives. She specialises in biographical, labour and social history. She was on the judging panel of the Magarey Medal for Biography (2008) the Australian Prime Ministers Centre research and scholarship program (2008-2011); the National Biography Awards (2013-2015); and a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Rutherford Discovery Fellowship Humanities and Social Sciences discipline panel (2015-16). She was a Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University (2013) and S.T. Lee Visiting Professorial Fellow at the School of Advanced Study (SAS), University of London (2016).
