The Academy’s Annual Events each year present us with an opportunity to showcase the various dimensions and impacts of Social Sciences within and outside the Social Sciences. This year, the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA) will join the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences for the annual Symposium meeting, reflecting the need to align the diverse range of disciplines involved in health across Australia to better strategically address the needs of our community.

The Symposium will be on the theme ‘Health Equity: Challenges & Solutions’, reflecting the need to align the diverse range of disciplines involved in health across Australia to better strategically address the needs of our community. Better integration of research, education and clinical care, and targeting our efforts where the need is greatest will improve the health of our nation. The collaborative meeting will bring Australia’s leaders in health and medical research, social and political science together. By working with our sister Academy we are uniquely placed to drive greater integration between clinical and research settings and policy engagement, to positively impact health outcomes.

ASSA’s Annual Events occurred from 18-20 October 2017 in Adelaide.
