Professor Anne Cutler FASSA FBA FRS (pictured left) studies the way in which we recognise and process spoken language (a field called psycholinguistics) and she is Research Professor at the MARCS Institute at the University of Western Sydney. Previously she was Director of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Radboud University Nijmegen. Professor Cutler was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of the social Sciences in Australia in 2006 and a Fellow of the Royal Society of London in 2015.

Professor Ngaire Naffine FASSA FAAL FBA is Professor of Law at the University of Adelaide. She specialises in legal philosophy and theory, criminal law and medical law. Professor Naffine is a Barrister of the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of NSW. Professor Naffine was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in 2006. She is also a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law.
