By bringing together cross-sector and cross-disciplinary expertise and working closely with stakeholders, the Academy’s policy work facilitates robust discussion and the provision of independent expert advice to policy makers on matters of national and global importance. The Academy’s policy work also offers avenues to advocate for and take action towards the systems and processes that support social science education and research excellence.
This program of work is foundational for enhancing the profile, impact and funding of social science research that improves the lives of people and society.
We do so through three streams of work:
- We convene expertise in areas of national priority through policy roundtables, symposiums and other forums.
- We provide policy advice and advocate for national research infrastructure investments needed for social science education and research excellence through policy submissions and briefings.
- We lead landmark initiatives and projects on behalf of and in partnership with the sector, government and other stakeholders.
The Academy’s Policy Team is based at the National Office in Canberra and are Andrea Verdich, Policy Director, and Dr Honae Cuffe, Policy and Projects Manager.
