“Recognition of the national importance of urban policies has escalated in recent years.”
Major urban centers are entrenched in defining the contemporary Australian social experience and are critical targets in their own right for a mix of federal and state policy initiatives aimed at enhancing their livability, productivity and sustainability. This workshop explores the achievements, failures, and challenges for Australian urban policy at a time when the nation is taking serious stock of the prospects and implications of long-term population growth and development for economic, social, and environmental reasons.
