Professor C.G.F. Simkin who was Professor of Economics in the University of Auckland between 1946 and 1969 and then in the University of Sydney from 1969 until his retirement in 1980. He was educated in the University of Otago winning many prizes and scholarships. He had close ties with Sir Karl Popper and Sir John Hicks. His major works included The Instability of a Dependent Economy, The Traditional Trade of Asia and Economics at Large. Asian economies held a great interest.
