An active member of the Council from his appointment in 1964, serving as Honorary Treasure and Member of the Executive Committee from 1964 to 1968. As one of the original members of the Immigration Project Committee he had played an active part in the launching of this project. As an economist specialising in the fields of business and industry he established close relations with the business world. His honest and critical approach to economic problems earned him the respect of business leaders, especially in the oil industry of which he made a special study. This appreciation was shown by the substantial support that he was able to obtain from this quarter for the Immigration Project.
