Andrew Leigh is the federal member for Fenner in the Australian House of Representatives. Prior to entering parliament in 2010, he was a professor in the Research School of Economics at the Australian National University.

Andrew’s research is in the fields of inequality, social policy, taxation and education. Andrew holds a PhD from Harvard University, on the topic ‘Essays in Poverty and Inequality’, having graduated from the University of Sydney with first class honours in Law and Arts. He has previously worked as a lawyer (including a stint as associate to former High Court Justice Michael Kirby), and as a principal adviser to the Australian Treasury.

He is a fellow of the IZA (Bonn), CESifo (Munich), and the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (Canberra). Andrew has published over six books and over sixty journal articles. His journal articles are available at www.andrewleigh.org.
