Emeritus Professor Barry McGaw is Managing Director of McGaw Group Pty Ltd. He is an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne. He was the Foundation Chair of the Board of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority from 2009 to 2015 when he reached the six-year limit on Board membership. From 1999 to 2005, he was Director for Education at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. From 1985 to 1998 he was Executive Director of the Australian Council for Educational Research and, from 1976 to 1984, Professor of Education at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia.
His research interests include:

- curriculum
- policies to enhance equity in education.
