Professor Christina Twomey is a Professor of History at Monash University, and an Executive Director at the Australian Research Council. Professor Twomey is a cultural historian of war, with specific expertise about concentration, internment and prisoner of war camps; the history of trauma and captivity; and photography and film about atrocities. Professor Twomey has also researched the history of humanitarianism and protection, the development of welfare programmes and the experience of poverty and dislocation. She has held visiting Professorships at Kyushu University and at the University of Copenhagen, where she was DEEWR Distinguished Visiting Chair of Australian Studies.
