Hugh Stretton taught history and was a Visiting Research Fellow in Economics at the University of Adelaide. He had lately written an unorthodox introductory economics textbook and a U.N. paper on inefficiencies of global capital markets and what might be done about them, and a book about Australian economic policy. Other interests included housing and urban planning policies, and the methods and influence of the social sciences.
