Professor Leslie Holmes is Professor of Political Science and Deputy Director of the Contemporary Europe Research Centre at the University of Melbourne. His principal interest is in the politics of post-communist countries and comparative corruption. His major current research project is on party financing scandals in Europe, with a particular focus on Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Russia.

Recent paid consultancies: World Bank (Sep 99 - Mar 00). In May 2000 was asked to act as a Senior Consultant to Transparency International (Berlin, Germany) and Checchi and Co. Consulting Inc. (Washington DC - on behalf of the Asian Development Bank); in May 2001 was informally invited to act as a consultant to the British government. Has also been a consultant on a small-scale to Australian law firms involved with migration issues.
