After academic appointments at the University of Western Australia and the University of Melbourne Ronald Taft was Professor of Social Psychology at Monash University, Faculty of Education. His special field is the adjustment and adaptation of immigrant children and adults. He also has had a continuing interest in:

  • culture and behaviour
  • social and political attitudes
  • personality assessment and research.

He was President of the International Association for Cross Cultural Psychology (1984-86) and has been an Executive member of the International Union of Psychological Science and the International Association of Applied Psychology. He was the foundation Chair of the National Committee for Psychology in the Australian Academy of Sciences.
