Australian social science researchers with a plan to host multidisciplinary workshops have until Friday 9 August 2024 to apply for grants supported by the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. The Academy’s workshop program aims to advance research and policy agendas on nationally important issues by awarding up to $9000 in financial support to eight workshop teams.

The Workshops Program is open to all social science researchers across Australia, including researchers working in non-university organisations, and researchers who have previously applied for or received a Workshops Program grant. At least one of the applicants must be employed by a university or research organisation with capacity to administer, acquit and report on grant expenditure.

Successful applicants in previous years have presented workshops on subjects as diverse as invasive plant species, Indigenous governance, youth mental health, and harmful digital marketing. A full list of successful workshop grant recipients can be found here.

Applications can include teams of up to four workshop convenors with at least one member being an Academy Fellow, as the Workshops Program aims to promote dialogue among researchers in different career stages.
