Book I’m reading…
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
I’m reading through Hilary Mantel’s Tudor-era trilogy on Thomas Cromwell. It’s such rich story-telling, and with regular reminders that the ‘sweating sickness’, as the English called it, was terrifying and deadly in its time.
Articles I’ve enjoyed…
I’ve enjoyed – if that’s the right word for it – two excellent pieces by Adam Tooze on the economic consequences of COVID-19:
- ‘Shockwave’, London Review of Books, 16 April 2020
- ‘The Normal Economy is Never Coming Back’, Foreign Policy, 9 April 2020
What I’m laughing at…
I thought many parents could relate to this video during our isolation at home.
