Australian Urban Policy: Prospects and Pathways
26-27 August 2021
Convenors: Professor Robert Freestone FASSA, Professor Bill Randolph FASSA and Professor Wendy Steele
Major urban centres are entrenched in defining the contemporary Australian social experience and are critical targets in their own right for a mix of federal and state policy initiatives aimed at enhancing their liveability, productivity and sustainability. This workshop explores the achievements, failures, and challenges for Australian urban policy at a time when the nation is taking serious stock at the prospects and implications of long-term population growth and development for economic, social, and environmental reasons.
